One concern in many soaps, shampoos, and toothpastes is a chemical called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. SLS is the stuff that makes soap sudsy. However, that sudsy soap comes with a long list of health concerns, especially for boys. Whenever I can avoid toxins, I do. This list is my years of trial and error with several products and brands. I feel like I have tried every brand of everything (I bet my husband agrees!). Below you will find the ones I found to be the least toxic, best smelling or tasting, most economical, and kid friendly products. It took me years of experimenting, so here you go...
Dish Soap: I use this to wash dishes, clean fruits and veggies, and clean my countertops.
Bath Soap: One of these bars will last both kids a month, bathing daily. Mine also lasts about a month. So cheap compared to buying body wash. Which again, look back at my week three post about the estrogens that can be in certain body washes.
Kid Lotion: This stuff is great for sensitive skin prone to rashes or eczema. The allergist was amazed at how clean, natural and effective it was.
Shampoo and Conditioner
Hand Soap: Because this is a foaming soap, it lasts about a month in any given bathroom or the kitchen. I have found using foam soap has saved me a lot of money. This soap is so basic and free of all chemicals. I love it!!!!
Hand Sanitizer: This is a great price and my favorite stuff for my kids. I have some in my purse and the car.
Floor Cleaner: I just mix vinegar with water. It has been the most effective way to clean my floors, and it keeps them cleaner looking for longer. Plus my grout looks amazing. If you have babies, pets, or kids crawling around on your floors, this is the safest and the cheapest way to clean them.
